Promoting Financial Literacy and Capital Market Participation
The
session on “Promoting Financial Literacy and Capital Market Participation - A
Pathway to Gender Equity and Inclusive Development” was held on 31st January
2025 at 11:00 AM in the Seminar Hall. The session was organized by the Gender Equity and Women Development
Cell and aimed at promoting financial literacy, particularly among women, and
encouraging their active participation in capital markets for a more inclusive
and equitable society. The session commenced with the Welcome Address delivered
by the respected Principal Prof. Dr. Rajendra Kumbharjuvekar. He welcomed all
the attendees, including distinguished guests, faculty, and students, and
highlighted the importance of financial literacy in today’s world.
The
key session was led by Mr. Rajendra Dalvi, a renowned Financial Education
Trainer at SEBI, who shared his insights on the topic. He spoke at length about
the significance of financial literacy and how it can serve as a powerful tool
for women to gain financial independence and make informed investment
decisions. Mr. Dalvi explained the various aspects of capital markets,
including stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and other financial instruments, and how
understanding these markets can enable women to engage in economic
decision-making.
The
session was conducted in two different batches: the first batch from 11:00 AM
to 12:00 Noon for S.Y. B.Com and M.Com students, and the second batch from
12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM for F.Y. B.Com students. Total 102 students attended the
session.
The event was graced by the presence of Ms. Ajita Morajker, Chairperson of the Gender Equity and Women Development Cell and were Ms. Apurva Bandodkar member of the cell. The session was expertly anchored by college counsellor Ms. Mrinal Walke, The event concluded with the Vote of Thanks, delivered by Bhavana, who expressed gratitude to all the speakers, attendees, and organizers for their active participation.
